RUFC - Alfie makes his intentions clear

Rotherham United striker, Adam Le Fondre has said that he will be happy to be with the Millers next season but then he`s off.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser the former Stockport and Rochdale player said, 'I`m here next season as far as I know and I`m more than happy with that, but I want to play higher and everyone knows that. It doesn`t thrill me to be playing in this division and I think I deserve to play higher.

'I`ve consistently scored goals in this division and if I`m here next season then I expect to get twenty-five goals but I feel I`ve served my time in League Two.`

Reading between the lines it seems that, if a club came in for Alfie in the summer, and made the club an offer they couldn`t refuse, then the twenty-five year old will turn his back on the Millers. It would be a shame, but if it`s a big leap for him then you can`t blame the lad can you after having two disappointing seasons with the Millers in regards to the non-promotions. If he stays then I hope the fans get behind him next season and get him to those twenty-five goals and he helps the Millers get to League One.

Manager, Andy Scott, said, 'As far as I`m concerned Alfie will be getting a fitness programme to work through the summer and he will come back for pre-season like everyone else who has time left on their contract.`

Scott said yesterday that he will be talking to all the players on Monday, and it`s expected he will tell them who he wants to keep and who he is letting go.
