RUFC - Millers boss aiming for automatic

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has told The Advertiser that he wants to be on holiday, next year, watching the play-offs.

'We`ve got to aim for the top,` Scott, who has started to wield the axe this week within the squad, said. 'I want to be watching the play-offs having won automatic promotion. And that will be the aim from the first day of pre-season.`

After being named Manager in mid-April and enduring three draws and a loss, Scott finally saw his new team win on Saturday and said, 'I`m pleased with what I`ve seen from individuals and they`ve given me food for thought of who I can fit round them. I`ve been pleasantly surprised by the quality of some of the players. Working closely with them makes you realise that they can do things you didn`t realise they could.

'I don`t want players who are desperate to come here because that means they`ve got no one else after them. I want players who I`ve got to persuade to come here and believe in what we are doing and buy into it.

'Added to the quality that is already here and the quality that is coming in, for me, that will be a winning formula and it is a formula that has been successful for me in the past.

'It`s a great profession to be in and it`s a great job. In fact, I don`t even see it as a job to go and play in front of a group of fans who would love to be in that position. It`s a privilege and they should take that on board, embrace and enjoy it.`
