'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Fenton Gutted

Rotherham United defender, Nick Fenton said he is 'gutted` to be leaving the Millers after new Manager, Andy Scott, told him he wasn`t wanted anymore.

Nick, who began his career with Manchester City, joined the Millers from Grimsby in August 2008 and has made over one hundred and thirty appearances in all competitions, scoring six goals, three of which came last season.

Speaking to Dom Howson of The Star, the thirty-one year old said, 'I am gutted because I`d virtually agreed a new deal before Ronnie Moore was sacked, which was then put on hold until the end of the season. I knew when Ronnie was sacked and we got a new manager in with three weeks to go that it was going to be difficult.

'I wanted to stay so am disappointed but I do understand it from Andy`s point of view. He wants to clear the decks and get his own players in so I have to accept it. That`s football and I`ve been around long enough to know how it works.

'It`s not an ideal situation for me because I have a young family to support but I`m in the same boat as about six to seven hundred other professionals. My agent is in talks with a number of clubs at the moment and I`m fairly confident that I will get something.`
