RUFC - Cress disappointed despite win

Rotherham United skipper, Ryan Cresswell, told David Beddows of The Advertiser that despite the win last Saturday, he left the dressing room feeling disappointed.

'I know we won,` the twenty-three year old who joined from Bury last summer said, 'but the only thing it meant was that we know we can do it.

'The question is why couldn`t we produce that performance for the last five games? We should have and we don`t know why we haven`t. We know, as a squad, we are better than what we`ve shown and we also know that we`d a good enough squad here to be in the top three but although we keep saying it we`ve got to go and prove it.

'Due to our own performances Ronnie Moore got the sack which we felt bad about and then Andy Liddell and Paul Warne took over but I think the Chairman always wanted to have a permanent manager which we`ve now got.

'We`ve always had belief here and there are a lot of games you can look back on and think we should have won, like the Burton game at Don Valley, when we were three up and ended drawing three-three. There`s been disappointment in the results like the back-to-back losses, a few errors and mistakes and we slid down and down and when you`re on that slide it`s hard to get off.

'Promotion was in our grasp and we missed it. It`s a big disappointment not going up and we`re sorry for everyone involved in the club that we`re not.'

Cress is having a couple of weeks rest and then says he`s going to hit the gym and get himself ready. 'We`ve got to prepare right over the summer and push on from there.`
