RUFC - Millers Top of the Shots!

Rotherham United might not have won League Two last season and might not have even got into the play-offs. But, they did have more shots on target than anyone else in the league.

The Millers had two hundred and sixty one shots on target - and thirteen more shots (two hundred and seventy four) off target. Of those, Adam Le Fondre, our top scorer with twenty-three goals had fifty-five shots on target and fifty-nine shots off target, with Ryan Taylor coming next having had thirty-nine shots on target scoring eleven. (Actually, looking at the stats young Ollie Banks probably has the best - one shot on target one goal in one appearance!) Bury were next in line with five shots less than the Millers on target - and they went up automatically.

So, if we had all these many shots on target why weren`t we up in the top three? Good goalkeeping might account for some of them but all I can think of is the time we`ve stood/sat in the stands and gone 'owwww` as the ball has just gone over or just missed the post.

I think I`ve said it for the last couple of seasons that we really have to make all our chances count - and these figures probably prove that don`t they? Perhaps Andy Scott really should make shooting practice the top thing on the agenda for pre-season training.
