'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Pringle is here to play

Rotherham United's first signing of the close season, Ben Pringle said that 'the gaffer sold the club' to him.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after signing a two year contract with the Millers today, the former Derby County Midfielder said, 'I spent two years with Derby and played a little bit but I needed to play more and the main reason I've signed is to play as many games as I can.

'I'd come from non-league (Ilkeston Town) to Derby and it was a lot different but the experience of playing in front of thirty thousand people did me a world of good and playing with the great players they have there was a great experience.

'I also have good experience playing in League Two from when I was on loan at Torquay who I played six or seven games for.

'The gaffer sold the club as an up and coming club and there's the new stadium and new training ground. The manager said he wanted me to come and play and it's always nice to go somewhere where you are wanted.

'I still had a year left at Derby and I could have stayed but I want first team football. I've spent two seasons trying to get involved at Derby and for whatever reason it hasn't worked out so to come here and play every week is something I'm looking forward to.'

Asked about his role for the Millers, Ben said, 'I think I'm best in the centre of the park and more attacking than defence. I've got a lot of energy and can get around the place. And, anything else other than promotion isn't going to be good enough next season.'
