RUFC - Evans 'delighted' to be here

Rotherham United`s latest signing, Gareth Evans says he is 'delighted to be here.`

Speaking to MillersPlayer, the twenty-three year old said, 'After a bit of uncertainty I`m pleased to be here and can`t wait to put the red shirt on and get going.

'The Manager has got huge ambitions for this club and, from the moment I met him, it was quite clear that he`s a positive bloke and is very keen on getting the club into League One, which is where they belong if not the Championship. He`s very ambitious and I`d like to think that I`m the same.`

Talking about his Youth days with Crewe Alexandra and Manchester United, Gareth said, 'They gave me a good bit of groundwork. Crewe are renown for producing players with good techniques and you`ve only got to look at the players they`ve produced to see that. '

Gareth also said that he`d been helped when he played at Macclesfield under Keith Alexander and Ian Brightwell. 'They were both fantastic blokes who helped me learn my way in the game.`

Speaking about Rotherham United, he said, 'They`ve always been a team I`ve not enjoyed playing against because they are a tough team to get a result against and I definitely think we are capable of going up.`

Asked about his role for the Millers, Gareth said, 'I can play in a variety of positions. I played right-wing last season so I can do a job there and I can also set up and score goals. But, whatever position the Manager wants me to play I can see myself doing it. The minimum requirement is running around and I want everyone to know that I can do that. I like to think I`m a pretty established professional and can`t wait to get on the pitch and show that.`
