'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - RMBC loan Millers money towards new stadium

Rotherham United Football Club are going to be loaned five million pounds by Rotherham MBC towards the cost of the new stadium, it has been revealed today, while the club has been working hard to raise the other £12.3m needed.

Speaking to the Official Site, Chairman, Tony Stewart said, 'From day one of my tenure with Rotherham United, Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council have been as determined as I have to make this happen, not just for the football club, but for the whole town.

'Thanks to the support of a number of partners, particularly the local authority and Yorkshire Forward the final building blocks are now in place. And, by continuing to work as a team we`ve managed to overcome all the tripwires and hurdles that this project has presented and we can all now look forward to this stadium being constructed.`

Councillor Roger Stone said, 'The new community stadium is a key to the regeneration of Rotherham town centre and we have always supported the club and the wish to have Rotherham United back playing at home.`

Thank you, vital Rotherham for highlighting this story, as a Walsall fan we are trying to get our local council involved in purchasing the land upon which our club stands. To be able to pass on examples of other councils been supportive of there club is a help thank you..............good luck for next season.
