RUFC - Scott appoints Patterson as his assistant

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has named Darren Patterson as his second in command this afternoon.

As we thought on Vital Rotherham this morning the forty-one year old former Northern Ireland defender has joined up with ex-teammate Scott. Patterson, who was Youth Team Manager at Bristol Rovers, has signed a three-year deal today.

Patterson began his playing career with West Brom before moving to Wigan, Crystal Palace, Luton, Dundee , York and Oxford where he played with Scott. After retiring from playing he stayed on at Oxford as Youth Team Coach and took over in 2004 as caretaker Manager before Ramon Diaz was appointed. Two years later Patterson was given the job on a full time basis but only lasted eight days before a new owner came in and gave the job to Jim Smith. However, he was again given the job in November 2007 but was sacked a year later. In May 2009 Patterson was given the Youth Team Managers job at Bristol Rovers and also had spells as caretaker Manager and Manager while he was there.
