RUFC - Boss pleased trio have signed new contracts

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says he is pleased that three of the players offered new contracts have signed.

The three, Jamie Annerson, Ollie Banks and Dale Tonge all took up the new boss`s offer of a new contract in the last couple of weeks.

'We are very pleased to have them on board. It`s important not to change too much and these three fitted in well when I took over and I am delighted to keep them here.

Speaking about the three to MillersPlayer, Scott said, 'Jamie Annerson is very young for a goalkeeper but he showed at the end of last season that he was more than capable of coming in and filling the position. And, it`s given us good competition for places in that area. He`s a good young player who can only get better and has worked well with Andy Dibble and if he works on his game then hopefully he will improve.

'Ollie is an unknown quantity really but we`ve seen that he`s got ability and, from pre-season, he`ll be training with the first team so hopefully he`ll come on from that and develop quickly and establish himself in the squad.

'Tongey has had his problem with injuries over the last couple of years but has played plenty of games and knows the league and knows the area. He`s a great lad to have around the place and a good footballer who wants to improve and he`s got plenty of energy and enthusiasm and is a real good pro. He`s also aware that it`s a big pre-season for him and hopefully we can get him through it and then he can go from strength to strength.`
