RUFC - Millers Manager talks about Evans

RUFC - Millers Manager talks about Evans

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott said he was very impressed with new signing, Gareth Evans, when he saw him play for Macclesfield.

Speaking to MillersPlayer about the twenty-three year old striker, Scott said, 'He did very well when he was at Macclesfield. Then he went to Bradford and did very well there too.

'I saw him a couple of times when he was at Macclesfield and have kept an eye on him. He's very quick and although he is right footed he can use his left. He's a good size and works extremely hard. He is very capable of not only scoring goals but creating them as well. So, not only can he play up front but as a wide player he's got all the assets that we need. I've pigeon holed him in at the wide right position but we know that he's a very good centre-forward as well.

'To get him on a free transfer when he's under twenty-four is a good deal for us. We've signed him for a year but as an incentive if he plays enough games then he'll get another year on improved money.

'That's what I'm trying to do. Get in player who are hungry and want to play who get in the side and want to stay there and earn better contracts because of that.'
