'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Holroyd talks about joining the Millers

Rotherham United's latest signing, striker, Chris Holroyd said that he was really excited to be joining the Millers saying he'd joined because it's a club that deserves to be in League One.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after becoming Andy Scott's fourth signing of the close season, the twenty-four year old said, 'I met with the Manager a couple of weeks ago and heard the plans the club had but I already knew that it was a big club, an ambitious club and I'm delighted to be at Rotherham.

'The Manager told me that they want promotion next season but I think I knew myself what sort of club Rotherham is and what it's hoping to achieve next year. I've only met him once but he seems well organised and methodical and hopefully he'll get the best out of me.'

Chris played against the Millers at Don Valley twice last season, with both Stevenage and Bury and said they were both tough games. 'Rotherham are a strong team and good with the ball,' he said, 'Every time I've played against Rotherham it's been a really difficult game and I'm really looking forward to playing for them.

'I've had a bit of an iffy eighteen months and I've not played as many games as I'd like so I'm going to keep myself in shape and give myself the best opportunity to play as many games as I can next season.'

Asked what attributes he'd bring to the Millers, Chris said 'I'm athletic and I like to run in behind defenders and I'm quite quick.'
