'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Mullins to be back earlier than expected?

Rotherham United defender, Johnny Mullins hasn`t played since the beginning of April having suffered a training ground accident which required him to have a serious operation on his knee.

At the time it was thought that the twenty-six year old was looking at a long lay-off, probably until Christmas, but, news this week seems to be edging on the more positive.

Johnny recently met with his consultant and it seems that the healing process is ahead of schedule and that he could be running in the next four weeks, though Manager, Andy Scott, erring on the side of caution told MillersPlayer, 'I`m very wary about things like that. I don`t want to put too much pressure on him to come back too early.

'If he feels he`s ready to come back and we can step up the re-hab then we will do so but with an injury like that, you don`t want to have set-backs because it can put you out for a lot longer than you would have been anyway.

'We`ll be looking at him over pre-season and seeing how he progresses. He should start running in three to four weeks and, so by the end of pre-season, he`s going to be working pretty hard on the training ground which will hopefully push him forward.`

Great news if he's going to be fit before we expected, but I'm with Andy Scott on this one and hope he isn't pushed too far too soon.
