RUFC - Scott 'Schofield can fill Laws' boots'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott said that the capture of Danny Schofield was massive for the club.

Speaking to MillersPlayer yesterday after Schofield signed, Scott said, 'There were a lot of clubs after him and I think it`s a real marquee signing.

'He played thirty odd games in the Championship last year and was the mainstay in the side over the last three years that got them to the play-offs and promoted. So, to sign a player of that calibre is a major, major coup for Rotherham.

'I`ve been chasing him for a long time and, at first, it was one of those where you didn`t think you was going to get a chance of doing it but we persevered and had a couple of meetings and spoke to his agent and it all worked out and we are delighted to have him.

'I think, when the fans look at his pedigree will also see a very fit boy which shows an indication of what we are trying to do here.

'Danny can play both sides and he wants to get on the ball and make things happen. He played a lot on the left hand side for Millwall but can play on the right. He wants to join in, he wants the ball to his feet and he wants to play up with the front players. It`s ideal for us, with Nicky Law going, that he can play on the left and I`m certain we`ve got a player who will certainly fill Nicky`s boots and be even better. '
