Pre-Season so far....

Pre-Season so far....

An eventful close season is nearly over for the millers, as the 2006/2007 is less than 2 weeks away.I think it`s fair to say that we haven`t had a close season like this for a while, if ever. It started when we went through CVA and had 10 points deducted from this season. We lost several out of contract players, not that I was that upset about them leaving, apart from Barker whose situation is still unclear. The manager has done well in the transfer market, he seems to have made some very good signings with Sharps and Partridge sticking in my mind following the Gretna game. Another good signing in Wiseman also looks like a very tidy player and with Facey`s stature and experience he could well be a good addition to the squad. Also Pablo Mills also offers experience from his days at Derby which will be needed in the hard season ahead. I also thought that Cochrane showed good plays in the Sunderland game and could well take the place of Williamson if he does leave. From my point of view and from what I have seen of the team I am confident that we can pull back the 10 point deficit. The Grantham game was good for Ryan Taylor, the hat-trick he got should give him added confidence for the new season and provides Knill another attacking option and one we all thought we wouldn`t have which is a added bonus. It was a decent knockabout at Grantham and improved the match fitness for which it is all about at this stage. The Sunderland game was more of a match that we need in pre-season, the result was irrelevant for me what matters is that we had a good game of football and that we were tested. The Gretna game yesterday really impressed me as we played good football, Partridge was really good on the wing something we haven`t had on the flank since Sedgwick left us and Hoskins looks to have bulked up and look good up-front also Bopp would be a good signing if we could agree a deal with him.Overall I am happy with the signings and the team looks to be gelling well, plus 10 points over a full season isn`t that much so we can do it! after saturday 10 points does not look so large a hurdle i agree with your artical 4eva the new signings look better players than the ones that left play offs? who knows, think we might need an extra striker williamson fee may provide that, would be sad to see him go but i think we would all understand it, if we got a large fee £250,000 or above?
