RUFC - New Training Ground deal getting nearer
Rotherham United look closer to having a new training ground with Chairman, Tony Stewart agreeing to the purchase of the former Avesta Sports Club, owned by steel firm Outo Kumpu.
We knew that the deal was on the cards for the fourteen acre site at Tinsley but it now seems that Mr Stewart has bought the land.
Since losing the training facilities at Hooton Lodge, the Millers have trained firstly at Doncaster Rovers` Keepmoat Stadium and then, for the last year, at Parkgate FC`s ground.
The Yorkshire Post says that the new training ground, which already has three pitches, four tennis courts, two bowling greens and a clubhouse, will be called Rotherham United Sports Academy and over the next eighteen months the complex will be transformed into one of the best training facilities outside the top two tiers of English football.
