RUFC - Scott 'Pope needs to move on'

Rotherham United striker, Tom Pope, who was told he was surplus to requirements at the end of last season, has had a couple of clubs interested in him, according to Manager, Andy Scott.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Scott said, 'Popey understands that he`s not going to play here and that he needs to move on in order to progress his career. He`s got a year left on his contract and he needs to be playing games this year, otherwise he`s going to be left on the scrap heap of players scrabbling around for money and contracts. It`s a tough situation and we are seeing it now when we are getting 'phone calls from agents of players who have played at good levels and are now just desperate for anything. Popey`s been offered, in my opinion, a good deal to leave and he`s thinking about that at the moment. He`s not training with the squad, he`s working on his own.

'I spoke to him last week and told him exactly where he stood here and his agent is also aware of that. He`s on good money here but he`s got a young family and he`s got to think of his career and he understands that he`s got to look at the bigger picture. Hopefully, he will realise that he`s better off playing games and enjoying his football again.`
