'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott on his team yesterday

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott played a few players in unfamiliar positions yesterday at Blundell Park against Grimsby Town and, after the three-one win, he explained to MillersPlayer why.

'Mark Bradley played at centre-half and we've been having a look at him there. He`s a good footballer and he understands the game. He`s aggressive and he wants to win the ball and is a good passer with good ability. Energy wise he covers the ground well.

'I wanted to look at Marcus Marshall at right-back for a bit longer but injuries dictated that we couldn`t do that but we may look at him there again because we think he`s got something to give us in that position.

'Luke Foster was at centre-back and he played that role very well for Stevenage last year and our second goal came from him moving the ball back.'

Speaking about trialist, Jeff Smith, who got forty-five minutes, Scott said, 'Jeff can play wide left or left back and he came in and fitted in well. He`ll be involved again on Tuesday and will come to Portugal with us and we`ll have a chat to him.

Talking about the injuries received yesterday, Scott said, 'Dale Tonge got a whack on the ankle which isn`t too bad, Danny Harrison got a knock and has a dead leg but he should be OK and Jaybo`s got three stitches in his head. That`s the most annoying thing because we wanted to get him on and have him play forty-five minutes and he had to come off ten minutes into his game. But, that`s life and we haven`t got any major problems.`
