'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott wants Promotion

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has admitted that he is probably a bit of a control freak as he says he wants to put another 'promotion` on his CV.

Speaking to Ian Appleyard of the Yorkshire Post, Scott said, 'I want to build a football club again and put another promotion on my CV.`

Scott already has one promotion as manager with Brentford who were promoted two years ago from League Two but he seems desperate to do it again with Rotherham.

'I feel I am responsible for this football club and everything that goes on comes back to me,` the thirty-eight year old carried on. 'That`s why I`ve brought in all the staff I have and changed the youth set-up. We have improved the training ground and are trying to improve all the other areas.

'I`m a bit of a control freak and probably have a bit of OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Order). Last week we were talking about the colour of the cones on the training pitch. I wanted them all the same colour, if they aren`t, I don`t think it looks professional and that sets the wrong standard for our players.

'The pre-season programme was planned out at the end of last season and everyone knew what would be happening from the first to the last day of pre-season including how long each session was going to last.

'I also think it`s important that I meet every player I want to sign face-to-face. There were some I met who weren`t right - either I didn`t like them or I didn`t think they would fit in and even though they might have been good players they wouldn`t have been a good player for me.`

Speaking about the aim for the Millers this season, Scott said, 'To win the league. I`ve told the lads not to even think about finishing second or third but to think about winning it. I think we`ve a good enough squad to win this league. With that there is pressure and expectation but we will be going into games this season wanting to win and I won`t be happy with just a point. I quite like that, too, because I`d rather set up teams to win than trying not to lose.'
