'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - 11th July 2012 it is!

11th July 2012 could well be a historic day for Rotherham United Football Club - because that is the date they have been given to move into their new stadium.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, Millers Chairman, Tony Stewart said, 'July 11th has been agreed as the completion date by both Gleeds (project managers) and GMI (builders) so everything is on schedule.

'GMI are six weeks ahead of schedule on the civic offices next to the stadium and these guys know about deadlines and have a good record for hitting them.

'The steelwork will start to go up in September or October and by Christmas, we are told, we will see the superstructure appearing.`

There is still the problem of the listed Guest and Chrimes building on site with Mr Stewart saying, 'Discussions are still ongoing and it`s being handled with due care and attention. Hopefully, we will know before Christmas what action we need to take with regard to that building.`

Mr Stewart also said that he hoped the club would be able to exchange ownership of the Outokumpu Sports Complex at Brinsworth for the new training ground around November.

'This is the most incredible thing that has happened to Rotherham football for yonks,` the Chairman said, 'and we are making it happen. Are we taking full advantage of the opportunity? Yes. Are we putting our money where our mouth is? Yes. Are we fully committed? Yes.

'Something like this only hits Rotherham every one hundred years. It is as glorious as that.`
