RUFC - Scott 'got irons in the fire'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has 'irons in the fire` regarding bringing in a new player, that could well be a striker.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Scott said he would like to get another body in before the season starts on Saturday. 'We are working on it,` he said, 'We have irons in the fire heating up but whether we get them out in time for next Saturday, or not, is another matter. But I`m very pleased with what we`ve assembled.`

Scott was at the Millers win over Parkgate yesterday evening, and although stood in the stands, was liaising with the bench. Although it was mostly a youth side last night who played, it also included Gareth Evans, Marcus Marshall, Andy Warrington and trialists Jeff Smith and a young centre-half from, we were given to understand, Belgium.

Speaking about Jeff Smith, Scott said, 'There are still certain things that need to be resolved and Jeff has been aware of that from day one. Until they are resolved we can`t do anything although we will continue to monitor it. When things do happen we will make a quick decision.`
