'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Raynes 'over the moon' to be here

Rotherham United new boy, Michael Raynes says he is 'over the moon' at signing for the Millers today.

The twenty-three year old spoke to MillersPlayer after signing a two-year contract today and said, 'I can't wait to meet the lads and get down to playing.

'I was at Scunthorpe so it's nice and local for me and I know there's a new stadium being built next year and it's a massive club as well and hopefully we will step up and make a big impact this year.'

Another reason Michael signed for the Millers is that he is already familiar with some of the players from when he was at Stockport County with them, such as Adam Le Fondre, Jason Taylor, Johnny Mullins and Conrad Logan and, while being barracked by Jaybo, said, 'I don't think I've ever spoken to them as much as I have this week and they were the main influence on my coming here. We had such a good buzz when we got promoted with Stockport and hopefully we can get the same buzz again here. I went away with Jason in the summer who is one of my biggest friends and this move was in the pipeline then so when the opportunity came I was over the moon to take it.'

Asked what he will bring to the Millers, Michael said, 'I like to class myself as an old-fashioned centre-half but I do try and play out a little bit too.

'I know this league pretty well and I want another medal by getting promotion from this league. I think if we get a good start this season we can have a right good go and get out of it.'
