'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott pleased to get Raynes

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says he thinks the club has got a 'fantastic deal' with the signing of Michael Raynes.

'Michael is a player we've been after all summer,' Scott told MillersPlayer at training this morning. 'He's a very, very good player, a good age and has played a lot of games in this league as well as having the experience of getting out of this league. And he fits all the criteria we need in a player while strengthening our defensive options.

'He knows Alfie, he knows Jaybo, he knows Conrad (Logan), Johnny Mullins and Andy Dibble from Stockport so he will fit in really well. And it's important that we have players who fit into the group.

'He's made no secret in his desire to come to us which is why we've been able to move so quickly. I've been talking to Alan Knill about him for a few months now but it didn't look like it was going to happen because of the fee they wanted for him. But, we finally got him, for what I believe, is a real bargain. We've got Troy (Brown) missing on Tuesday because he's on International duty so he's come in at the right time and he'll get his opportunity very soon.

'I'm very happy we've got Michael in. He's a good talker and a leader and he'll be a good asset for the club. I mean, he's only been here five minutes and it's as though he's been here for years. He also gives us a bit more physical presence in the side which is needed and hopefully he'll soon establish himself in the side.

Another 'leader'! I hope we aren't going to have too many cowboys and not enough injuns!
