Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that his players need some belief.
The Millers went ahead on Tuesday night in the Carling Cup first round against Leicester City but the Championship side came back to win four-one, and that`s when some of the players` heads seem to droop a little.
But, there was really no need for that because, in my humble opinion, the Millers outplayed City for the whole of the first half, and Andy Scott seems to think the same, telling the Yorkshire Post, 'No-one gave us a hope but I believe in these players and the first half showed that belief was justified.
'We are still trying to get the players to believe in themselves and making sure they realise they have good players around them. Those who have been here over the last couple of years have taken a few knocks and have had a few disappointments. We have lost a little bit of belief in ourselves but that`s a remnant of times past here and I`m not going to have that now.
'This is a different regime, a different set of players, a different way of doing things - and, as long as they are trying to do the right things, I don`t care about mistakes. If people make mistakes, they are honest mistakes. We have a great set of lads who have worked hard to get to this point.
'We can`t let Tuesday`s result detract from a good performance against Oxford, what we believe we have done right in pre-season and what we want to take in to Saturday`s game against Plymouth.
'We are a work in progress and we always were going to be, but, as long as we keep improving we`ll be fine because we`ve got some quality here.`
