RUFC - Scott on his double goal scorers

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott told MillersPlayer that he 'had a feeling` that Gareth Evans would do well against Plymouth.

'Chris (Holroyd) was disappointed to miss out and it was a tough decision,` Scott said after the four-one win over Plymouth, 'but I just had a feeling about Gareth Evans today.

'Having looked at their side and how they play I thought Gareth would add something to us. And he did that with goals. His first goal was a real boost to us after going one down so early in the second half and it got us back into it and we never looked back from there.

'He`s good in the air and he does attack crosses very well and Alfie put a great ball in for him. We`ve been working on that and making sure we are a little bit more direct in the box and making sure we`ve got people arriving and we stressed this at half-time. Tom Newey put four cracking crosses in in the first half and we didn`t quite get on them.`

Speaking about Adam Le Fondre`s goals, Scott said, 'His second looked like the referee had blown and he was messing about with because he took that much time with it but that just shows how composed he is. But he`s a goal scorer and the third goal was a real big boost for us and it was a fantastic finish.

'But, for both his goals, in our build up play we absolutely carved them open. And, if we`d scored more, I don`t think anyone would have been surprised.`

I'm still not sure how Gareth Evans got his first goal in! Sat behind the goal it looked to us like he'd taken it too far! Got to say, he's a very good player and very strong
