'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Chairman 'join us on Saturday'

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart is delighted with the start the Millers have had to the season.

Speaking to the Official Site, Mr Stewart said, that he realised it was only early days but the signs are encouraging.

'Throughout the Club we have a determination to succeed. We have ambitious individuals in key areas that are infectious to others and the end result is a very unified workforce - both on and off the pitch.'

The Millers have won both their league games - firstly against Oxford at Don Valley and then on Saturday at Home Park against Plymouth Argyle. Tomorrow night the Millers travel to Crewe and then, on Saturday, they are back at Don Valley for what is to be a special game.

It will be fifty years on Saturday since the first League Cup Final which the Millers played over two legs against Aston Villa. Members of that Final team will be at Don Valley on Saturday as guests of the club with Mr Stewart saying, 'Far too often former players are not recognised within football and what they achieved when playing for their Clubs, but we absolutely respect and are thankful about the tremendous contribution that so many players have made throughout our history and we are very proud of that.

'It would be nice to see families join us for this game - grandparents, parents and children - to support both the Rotherham United today and the Rotherham United of fifty years ago. We are a family Club and if there was ever a nice occasion for families to have a day out together in support and celebration of Rotherham then this would be absolutely perfect.'
