'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott 'I'm proud of every one of them'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott told Radio Sheffield that he was 'proud` of every one of his team, after last night`s two-one win over Crewe at Gresty Road.

'It`s been a tough start to the season,` Scott said, 'and sometimes scruffy wins are good.

'This is a tough place to come and they`ve got a good side with a lot of energy and, they`ve got a lot of players from their academy who are used to playing together and it showed tonight. They are very fluid in midfield and their movement is excellent.

'Sometimes in this league you've got to come away from home and you've got to graft and be solid, organised and prepared to put your body on the line and not play great but get a result and the three points tonight were as good, if not better, than Saturday. It`s been two different games with two different performances but we will be looking back at the end of the season and these three points will be as important, if not more, than a lot of others. Of course there are areas we need to improve but, sometimes if you`re not playing great or things go against you and you buckle then that shows a sign of weakness but we are organised and strong and they are prepared to battle for each other and I`m proud of every one of them.

'We went two up and I was disappointed that we conceded one really because I felt, if we`d gone on, we maybe could have caused them a few more problems. But, we stood strong and we stood united.

'To get promotion in this league, I`m telling you, we will have to grind out more results than you play well. The fans appreciate everything and they are seeing a team that are giving one hundred per cent for that red shirt and that will continue to be the case.`

Asked about being top of the league, Scott said, 'We couldn`t have got a better start than nine out of nine but I`m disappointed in the two goals we`ve conceded, and if I wasn`t I wouldn`t be doing my job right.`
