'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Schofield 'Vital Alfie stays'

Rotherham United midfielder, Danny Schofield says that it`s 'vital` that the Millers keep hold of top striker, Adam Le Fondre.

With bids coming in from here, there and everywhere, it seems that it`s only a matter of time before the twenty-four year old reaches his goal of playing in a higher league than league two, even though the club are making it difficult by slapping a high figure on him.

Speaking to Dom Howson of The Star, Schofield said, 'Alf is a key player for us so it`s vital we keep him.

'He is a natural and proven goal scorer in League Two and, eventually, he will play at a higher level but, hopefully, we can hang on to him and he can play a big part in our promotion bid.

'He is a natural finisher and, more often than not, when he is given a chance he will put it in the back of the net.`

Thirty-one year old Danny signed a three-year deal with the Millers, joining from Millwall in the summer and he says he is 'relatively happy` with his performances so far, but says, 'I`m feeling really fit and sharp but there is still more to come from me.`
