'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott post Gillingham

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott thought his team were worthy winners against Gillingham this afternoon at Don Valley.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the three-nil win, Scott said, 'The second half was a really, really good performance and we passed the ball really well and totally dominated the half. I can`t remember too many efforts on our goal while we created numerous.

'In the first half we gave the ball away in poor areas and kept trying to go down dead ends when we were doing well round the outside. Evans was causing problems down his side and Marshall did ever so well. We just needed to keep it simple and keep the ball moving. In the second half we moved the ball ever so well and there was good movement and energy about us and we were solid defensively and it was a real professional performance and there was some fantastic football played.

'We`ve been working on a lot of stuff in training this week and I think everyone saw that it paid off today. We travelled up the pitch with the ball rather than try to chase it. We made mistakes in the first half but just a little switch in the second half and it all clicked together and we were fantastic.

'We knew this would probably be our toughest game so far and we responded and reacted well to that and I thought the lads were outstanding and I think the fans enjoyed what they were seeing as well and, in the second half, appreciated the quality of our play.`
