'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Willams not Alfie replacement

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that new striker, Brett Williams is someone that he`s been keeping an eye on.

Speaking to MillersPlayer Scott said, 'Brian McDermott signed Brett from Eastleigh and he`s a good size, over six foot.

'He`s untried and it`s an opportunity for him to come and be involved in league football. They really like him at Reading. I went down to watch Reading a couple of times last season and I know Brian, and all the people there, well, and they hold Brett in high regard.

'I wanted to bring another body into the squad to help us and he`s quick, a goal scorer and is strong and I`m sure that he will take to league football. He`s going to have to ease himself into it but he will get his chance and when he does I`m sure he will show his quality.`

The twenty-three year old h as come to the Millers on loan until the January with Scott saying, 'Brian likes him and he`s in the last year of his contract and, if he does well, I would imagine that Reading will want to extend his contract. If that`s not the case then we may look to do something but we`ve only talked about a loan and we are grateful that Brian has helped us out in this respect because, I think, it`s a good move for everyone.

'This is certainly not the replacement for Alfie and we are looking to bring in a player who has got experience and who can compliment the squad and add the goals that we need.`
