'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vital Rotherham Welcome.....

Vital Rotherham would like to welcome baldtobeamiller to the 'family`.

Baldtobe (I really want to call you B2B but it sounds too much like a local footy teams stadium!), has kindly offered to give me a hand and helping out on Vital.

I`ve even managed to bully him into answering our questions…..

How long have you been following the Millers?
Since I was a boy! My aunt was a laundry lady at Millmoor so I was taken down there. Once when my mum was ill I spent a full week there whilst she looked after me. Also my brothers were Millers so I was born to be a Miller

Can you remember your first game at Millmoor and your first away game?
My first game? No! My first game allowed to go to on my own was vs. Coventry 1-1 28/8/65. Thanks to Gerry Somerton's book for that detail. My first away game was I think a Boxing Day trip to Doncaster

Best game you've seen the Millers involved in?
Best game was Vs Derby at home. We'd lost to Watford on the Saturday and had signed Gerry Gow just before that. Played Derby on Tuesday night and Gow was off in 90 seconds. One down 2-1 win and the start of fabulous February and a record breaking run.

Favourite ever player in a Millers shirt?
Tony Towner beyond any doubt. Dave Watson was probably the best but for sheer excitement Towner 'One in a million'

Who is the one you were glad to see the back of?!
So many! Moody, lazy or just plain... Probably Gisbert Bos. White boots just highlighted him

What was your worst time with the Millers?
The demolition of the great division 3 side when you thought ambition had gone then a few years later when all the cash had gone, twice!

Any funny/amusing story regarding the Millers that you can tell us about?
The 1996 Wembley final. Brother in law in London (avid Miller) wanted a ticket as did my brother in Wolves. So we went to Watford gap to meet my bro. Two cars decked in red & white headed to Brother in laws for lunch before the game. Suddenly there were THREE cars in the convoy. All the way to Enfield where we stopped in a cul-de-sac. I jumped out of the car laughing as I approached the strange car. 'How do we get to Wembley?' they asked. 'You gotta practice!!" I answered. Anyway they were invited in for tea and sarnies and followed us to Wembley. Would you believe they were stewards!

What other sports are you involved in/like to watch?
Cricket. Love it at local level as well as top flight

Your claim to fame .....
Appearing in the same cricket scorebook as G. Boycott, H D Bird and M Parkinson! The opposition had lost their scorebook and found an old one from about 1956 where there appeared a Barnsley Town CC. We were about 35 years apart, they in the front of the book me in the back!

What would you like the new ground to be called?
New Millmoor

Where do you think we will finish at the end of the season?
Second
