RUFC - Millers to take on Blades

Rotherham United take on Sheffield United in the next round of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

The Millers got through the first round without even having to kick a ball in anger thanks to a bye with the Blades beating Burton Albion by two goals to one at the Pirelli Stadium in the first round.

The last two seasons the Millers have lost to Huddersfield Town, last season in the third round and the season before in round one. Under the name 'Johnstone`s Paint Trophy` the furthest the Millers have got was in the 2008/9 season getting to the area final where they lost to Scunthorpe over two legs - two - nil at Glanford Park and one-nil at Don Valley.

The competition began life as the Associated Members` Cup in the 1983/4 season becoming the Football League Trophy in 1992. Since then it has been called various names - the Freight Rover Trophy, the Sherpa Van Trophy, the Leyland DAF Cup, the Autoglass Trophy, the Auto Windscreens Shields Trophy and LDV Vans Trophy - before becoming the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy in 2007 - the Millers, of course, being the winners in 1996 when it was the Auto Windscreens Shields Trophy.

The game against the Blades will be played at Don Valley in the week commencing 3rd October 2011.
