'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Scott on his award

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott has been awarded the NPower League Two Manager of the Month for August but says although it`s a personal accolade it`s really for the club.

Speaking to MillersPlayer Scott said, 'It`s not just down to the players and the staff it`s for the fans and the way that the Chairman and the board have taken everything that I`ve wanted to do, embraced it and run with it.

'It`s a club accolade and we deserve that. There`s a lot gone on at this football club in the last three or four months and everyone has been positive about it. I`ve wanted to make changes and we want to continue to do that so hopefully this is the first of many awards we get.

'If I`m getting awards it means that we are all doing the right thing and that`s what we want to do. We want to keep winning games and being at the top and there is a real feel good feel factor about the place.`

Asked about 'the curse` that seems to come with this award, Scott smiled and said, 'There`s no curse.

'Before the Gillingham game someone told me that they were our jinx team but there are no jinxes in football, it`s all about how you play on the day and how the team go out there and perform on the day. And we will be preparing to perform like we did against Gillingham and we will walk away with the three points if we do that.

'But it`s nice to get awards because it shows that you are doing the right thing.`
