'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Cress got a lot of respect for Scott

Rotherham United Skipper, Ryan Cresswell says that he is 'still learning` after he was substituted on Saturday against Torquay.

Rotherham born Cress scored the Millers second goal on Saturday but admits that it was his error that gave Torquay their equaliser two minutes into the second half. Cress and Manager, Andy Scott spoke after the game after the defender aired his disappointment at being subbed and speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, Cress said, 'The gaffer had a word with me and said his decision wasn`t performance based, he wanted to change the system a bit. He wanted to freshen things up and I appreciate that chat.

'It`s a learning curve for me. I think a lot of people think I`m a thirty-three year old experienced centre-half and that fact is I`m twenty-three years old and I`m still learning the game. The gaffer is willing to help me out and I`ve got a lot of respect for him and I`d like to think he has for me.

'If the gaffer sees something that can change to get us three points then he`ll do it. I think people forget it`s a squad game now and it`s not just about the starting eleven, it`s about everyone.

'I`m disappointed at being fetched off but I`ll learn from it and become a better person for it..

'As for their goal, I think the wind caused a bit of the problem but that is no excuse and I should have dealt with the situation better.`

Scott explained about the change, saying, 'It was tactical. I thought the game was getting away from us a little bit and we were dropping too deep. We needed a bit more pace on the pitch to combat them.`
