RUFC - Reserves Routed

Rotherham United Reserves 0 Hartlepool Reserves 5

Rotherham United lost this afternoon to a lively Hartlepool at Roundwood with James Poole getting four of the five goals.

The Millers started the livelier with both Chris Holroyd and Ollie Banks having shots at goal but were outdone by Poole when he intercepted a pass in midfield and found himself one on one with Conrad Logan in the Millers` goal to score. While the Millers were still reeling from that, Poole got the better of trialist Alassane N`Diaye and shot from distance seeing the ball go in off the post for his second. At the other end Marcus Marshall, playing at right-back, got a good ball in to Tom Foltyn-Brown but his header went wide. On thirty-seven minutes Poole got his hat-trick after trying to lob Logan, the 'keeper parried the ball out and twenty-one year old was there to finish with an overhead kick that wouldn`t have looked out of place on Match of the Day.

Once again the Millers came out at half-time the better side with Holroyd having a couple of shots at goal. On the hour Jordan Richards got in a good ball to Poole who lobbed Logan for his and Hartlepool`s fourth. Ten minutes later, Banks` free-kick made Liam Mooney in the visitors goal work and he parried it out to a lurking Holroyd but the striker couldn`t quite get it right. Warne and Luke Foster also had shots at goal and Phil Woods, on for Marshall, saw his shot hit the post and go to safety. But James Brown sealed the win with a goal to make it five-nil meaning Hartlepool have scored fourteen goals in their last three games.
