RUFC - Newey confident Millers can get out of rut

Rotherham United defender, Tom Newey is confident that the Millers will be in contention for a top seven finish come the end of the season, despite the 'blip` we seem to be suffering at the moment.

With the Millers dropping out of the top ten after Saturday`s loss to Burton, Newey told Dom Howson of The Star, 'It`s an open division and I don`t think anyone stands out this year.

'We`ve got the talent here to challenge. If you look at our first seven to eight matches of the season, we were in the top three so there is no reason why we can`t get back up there. were in the top three so there is no reason why we can`t get back up there. It is all about stringing three to four results together and if we can get two to three wins on the bounce, we can suddenly move up four or five places.`

The Millers have lost their last three league games and drew the two before that which has seen them dropping to eleventh with Manager, Andy Scott having harsh words to say about his defence.

'We are working very hard in training to put it right,` Newey carried on, 'but it hasn`t been easy because we haven`t had a settled back four. But, saying that, it`s not just the back four it`s the whole team. We made some individual errors against Port Vale but these things happen and no one means to make a mistake but we have to try and cut them out.

'I am very confident with the squad that we have got that we can turn the corner quickly.`
