RUFC - Scott 'Holroyd unlucky'

Rotherham United striker, Chris Holroyd has hardly featured since he joined the Millers from Brighton and Hove Albion in the summer.

The twenty-four year old signed a two year contract but has only featured in ten games and speaking to MillersPlayer Manager, Andy Scott said, 'It was easier last season when you had seven subs but we are down to five this year and I have to pick those five subs to what I think might be relevant to the game.

I've spoken to Chris a lot about his game and how he trains and when you are in a situation when things aren't going well and you need people who are going to graft and be team players. Chris has been unfortunate in the last week but he's worked very hard and taken things on board that I've said to him and hopefully he'll put that into practice and then he'll likely get a chance.'

Asked about Brett Williams, who picked up an injury and went back to his parent club Reading, Scott said, 'We speak to Brett regularly and he will be coming back. He's got a problem with his thigh and it's not going away as quickly as we'd hoped and there's no point in bringing him back while he's still struggling.

'When he's ready he'll come back up, do the fitness work with us and fight for his place.'

I know a few of us fans, while the Millers have been having problems getting someone to play in the back or/and midfield, have wondered why Luke Foster hasn't been given a chance. Earlier this week Scott was quite scathing towards the former Oxford defender saying that he wouldn't play for the team until he was fitter.

'Luke hasn't been at a level physically to play at a standard I expect,' Scott said. 'Luke is the sort of player that needs to be playing games to be match fit rather than doing it in training. But, if you want to be match fit you get yourself match fit.

'Luke has not been in the side and that tells you everything you need to know.'

Luke was another who joined the Millers in the summer from Stevenage and has made just one appearance, off the bench, in the three-nil win over Gillingham.
