'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Alex delighted to score

Rotherham United striker, Alex Revell has had his world turned upside down a little this week. He missed last Saturday`s draw with Shrewsbury because he was attending the birth of his baby son and he must have feared the worst, coming back into the side, and the Millers going three down in forty minutes against Morecambe on Tuesday.

Speaking to MillersPlayer after Tuesday night`s game, the twenty-eight year old said, that it was 'an amazing feeling` being a father.

'To get back today was touch and go because my wife had a caesarean and she`s on her own so it`s a bit difficult and then to come here and be three-nil down wasn`t a great start. So it was great to show a bit of character to get back into the game and it was nice to get the goal and to do the cradle celebration to celebrate his coming.'

Asked about his goal, Alex said,'It was a good ball in from Danny Harrison and I was lucky enough to get my big size ten on the end of it and it went in the top corner.

'I thought we started to play some good stuff after half-time and started to get Evo (Gareth Evans) and Schoey (Danny Schofield) in the game a lot more and when those two get into the game I, personally, don`t think there`s a better team in the league. If I was a fullback facing them two I`d want to go off!

'It was nice to get back into the game before half-time because I think it would have been a whole lot different if we hadn`t and a lot more of a struggle.`

Asked about Manager, Andy Scott`s half-time team talk, Alex said, 'There were a few questions asked. And that`s the worst thing because you don`t want to be questioned about your commitment and your work level. So that hurt. And I think we had a massive point to prove to the people who came to watch because it`s happened too many times this year where we`ve gone down by too many goals.

'It was a massive time when Evo scored, and he scored a great goal. You could see the tide turning a little bit and I think, when it got to three-all we were the only team who looked like going on to win the game.

'If we can just get going for the whole game like we did in the second half then the only way we will be going is up the table.`
