'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Liquid Gold!

Rotherham United are well on the way to building a new stadium and, over the last week, we've seen the steel being transported and erected. So now we can stop hoping and wondering and start dreaming of our ground.

Chairman Tony Stewart today has said that he wants the name of the new stadium in place for Christmas, then he can start to 'sell' the ground to sponsors.

Of course, there is still a long way to go - there's car parking to sort and the corporate aspect in/around the ground, for instance, a pub/restaurant/eatery for the fans. I was recently at Swindon where the Chairman came to look around their 'away fans bar' and he looked quite impressed (though, to be honest, if the likes of Manchester United went to the County Ground the bar wouldn't have been a quarter big enough to fit them in).

So, where are these going to be?

Well, it`s an ill wind that blows no one any good but Luminar Leisure have today gone in to administration. They own the Liquid and Envy nightclubs at the end of Main Street and it strikes me as being an ideal geographical location, if it were possible, to acquire it for the club as both a form of revenue and parking.

Good idea? What do you think?
