'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Time of Year, Time to Review

Well as we near November we once again have to look at the horizon. The league position is mid table. We`re out of the Carling Cup and the JP Trophy and so on the horizon, there`s the "C" word.

The FA Cup is coming and with it there will be the usual chants from the terrace of "We`ll win the cup!" when we know we haven`t got a chance! In fact it seems like an eternity since we last had a decent FA cup run. I think it`s about time we DID have one.

I believe the priority lies with the league but teams get in the habit of winning and, hopefully, we`ll get the winning habit back in the league and continue it in the cup. This can also lift interest in the town and increase some revenue. You can`t underestimate the revenue value of a cup run away from bread and butter games. A cup run also grabs the imagination and may even bring back those lapsed supporters.

A few more without victories and, heaven forfend, but the season could be all but over. November could be pivotal in how we will face the rest of the seasons

Be nice to get to the third round and play a 'big' team - or maybe we should save that for next year in our new ground?
