'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Logan 'just one of those things'

Rotherham United goalkeeper, Conrad Logan says he was disappointed about the howler that led to Northampton`s equaliser on Saturday.

The twenty-five year old appeared to come for the ball, and whether it took a bit of a bounce or not I can`t tell, but one minute he seemed to be gathering the ball and the next it was spinning behind him and going over the line.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star Conrad, who is on loan with the Millers from Leicester City, said, 'I gambled because I anticipated he would put it across the six yard box. He smashed it, it hit my hand and just started spinning. I hoped it might go out for a corner but it spun in before I could get back to it.

'I was disappointed but it`s just one of those things. It was a mistake but 'keepers making mistakes is part and parcel of the game. They make them at this level and they make them at the highest level. There`s every chance you can watch Match of the Day on a Saturday night and see someone make an error. But the best 'keepers make the least mistakes. It`s how you respond and, thankfully, the one on Saturday, well, I proved it didn`t affect me afterwards. I take more of a positive about how I responded rather than dwelling on the mistake. You have to be mentally strong after something like that and I`d like to think I was.`

Conrad kept the Millers in the game in the second half by producing an excellent fingertip save.

The Millers goal, in the opening two minutes, was actually a mistake by Sam Walker in the Cobblers` goal, who`s hashed clearance only went as far as Danny Schofield and his pass to Alex Revell found Gareth Evans steaming in who put the ball in the back of the net.
