'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Tonge 'there's no continuity at the back'

Join The Vital Debate

Rotherham United defender Dale Tonge says that he doesn`t think the Millers are getting the rub of the green lately.

The twenty-seven year old, who has been at Rotherham for over four years, told David Beddows of The Advertiser, 'We work a lot on keeping clean sheets in training but we`re not getting the rub of the green, such as the goal against us last Saturday. It`s just the way our luck is going at the minute.`

The former Barnsley player also said that the Millers need to keep the same back four. 'There`s no continuity,` he said, 'which is what a back four needs. If you can keep the same back four then you shouldn`t go far wrong because you all know each other`s game and how it works.

'We all know where the problem lies and it`s been no secret but we`re all working hard to defend as a team.`

It looks like the Millers are going to be without skipper Ryan Cresswell for longer than first thought, with a serious foot injury, and Michael Raynes won`t play tomorrow, though could be back for the game against Barrow next weekend. Guy Branston is available for the game at Don Valley tomorrow and it is almost certain that he will go straight into the starting eleven to partner Johnny Mullins at the back.

I think it`s obvious that we have to stop letting goals in but I also think the men at the front have to start putting away the chances. It used to be that a one-nil win would do fine, but, at the moment, I fear if we don`t score three goals then there is always a danger of the other side getting points off us.
