RUFC - Millers Reserves beat Iron Reserves

Join The Vital Debate

Rotherham United Reserves 4 v Scunthorpe United Reserves 0

Ollie Banks and Marcus Marshall both scored two goals this afternoon as the Millers Reserves beat Scunthorpe Reserves at Don Valley Stadium.

The Millers first shot at goal came from Alec Denton who's shot was well tipped over by Jake Turner in the visitors goal. Minutes later a long kick from Andy Warrington found Marcus Marshall but the tall winger could only shoot into the side netting. But Marshall made amends when he crossed a great ball in for Ollie Banks who put the ball into the net from eighteen yards out. Paul Warne and Denton had chances before Marshall skipped past a challenge from Cliff Byrne and toe poked the ball into the net.

Although the Millers came out for the second half like they finished the first it was the visitors who nearly scored when Jordan Thewlis found himself in the area and with only Warrington to beat put the ball over the crossbar. Within a minute, the Millers had three, when Banks picked up the ball on the left and, although it looked like his shot was meant for Brett Williams, it missed the striker and found the corner of the net. Tom Brown, on for Michael Raynes, nearly made it four but headed just wide before Thewlis fired just wide at the other end. Six minutes from time the home team did get the fourth when Marshall pounced on a lose ball on the edge of the area and skipped into the box before shooting the ball high into the net.
