RUFC - Scott 'losing Evans is a big blow'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that losing Gareth Evans is a big blow for the Millers.

Speaking to MillersPlayer Scott said, 'It's an ankle injury and it's not a short fix and we are looking into at least the New Year which is a big blow. Gareth has been fantastic for us and going back to his old club and getting an injury there was a big disappointment for him.

'We've got the scan back and the results aren't great. He's seeing a specialist next Tuesday and the full extent of the injury will be discussed then.

'He's been one of our best players and he's shown the potential he's got and the quality he's got as well as the goals he's chipped in with. It's a big void to fill but bringing in Sam (Wood) will hopefully go some way to helping that.

'We want Gareth to get the right treatment and get back as quickly as possible. Until he sees the specialist and gets a proper diagnosis of what needs to be done we aren't really going to know what the time-scale is. He's got a problem with the ankle and we don't know if it's ligaments or bone damage. When we find out we will work out a plan of what rehab needs to be done and what the time-scale is which will give us some indication of what we will need to do in January. If it's bad news then we may have to look at replacing him for a while but if it's good news then we will get him back as soon as possible. It's fortunate that we had plans in place to bring in players and that we could work quickly to get Sam in so we can have a strong squad going into December.'
