RUFC - Scott 'half-time rant did trick'

Rotherham United Manager, Andy Scott says that the half-time rant he had against Morecambe last month could well have been the turning point in the clubs season.

The Millers went into the dressing room at half-time three-one down at Christie Park and looking very sorry for themselves.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star, Scott said, '"I can see myself now in the changing room, how I lost it and went for it, the first time I`d had to do it. It does seem to have worked, but I don`t want to have to do it again.

'There now seems to have been a realisation among the group that, as staff, we do know what we are talking about and, that it`s done the way we want them to do it, it works. The performance in the second half at Morecambe is one of the best you`re going to see. Since then the penny seems to have dropped about them doing what we want them to do.`

The Millers had gone three down in thirty-seven minutes to a Gary McDonald goal and two penalties from Laurence Wilson before the Millers themselves got a penalty which Lewis Grabban duly put away. Gareth Evans and Alex Revell got goals in the second half to give the Millers a point from the game.

Carrying on, Scott said, 'They knew I meant business and, from my point of view, the way the whole psyche of the players changed at half-time. If they weren`t going to do what we wanted them to, then they wouldn`t be playing for me.

'After a difficult spell and criticism, some justified, it has brought us together and galvanised us as a group. And now we want to keep that going.`
