RUFC - Scott post Shrewsbury

RUFC - Scott post Shrewsbury

Rotherham United have seen the last of the FA Cup for this season, when they lost two-one to Shrewsbury Town this afternoon at the Greenhous Meadow.

Millers Manager, Andy Scott was frustrated after the loss and told Radio Sheffield, 'We didn`t play well in the first forty-five minutes but got one-nil up and then the silly sending off and we were always going to be up against it. It`s always a tough place to come with eleven men never mind ten.

'We didn`t start the game well enough. We defended too deep and didn`t play with the positive nature that we normally do and we were grateful to be nil-nil and then to get the goal gave us a bit of a lift. But the second half is a completely different game because of the sending off.

'We restricted them to long range efforts, that`s how we were set out to play, and we were comfortable with that. We went four-three-two because we wanted to win the game and we had several chances to get the ball in the box and create problems.

'They had a lot of possession, which we expected, and the lads worked hard but sometimes you can`t legislate for what happens. When they went forward they were allowed to do it too easy and they were allowed to turn and get us and that`s not what we`re about. It amazes me that we started like that.

'There were some decent performances today but there were some poor ones as well.`
