'If It's Football, It's Vital'

RUFC - Mullins 'we have to show we're a team'

Rotherham United defender, Johnny Mullins is expecting the Millers to come out of the holiday period in a better position that what they go into it, but admits that it`s going to be tough.

Speaking to David Beddows of The Advertiser, the twenty-six year old former Reading player said, 'I think we should be in the top seven or eight - but the league table doesn`t lie and we can`t keep saying we haven`t got the rub of the green or we haven`t got this or that. We are where we are for a reason and all we can do is address it and go again.

'We spoke in the dressing room after Saturday`s game and said that we need to come together as a group. We are individuals but we are a team and we`ve got to show that. We`re eleven points shy of third place and it`s time to stand up and be counted.

'It`s about strength of character but we`ve got some very tough away games which really will test our resolve. But we`ve got some very strong individuals here and we are very positive and we have to be confident.

It`s important that we set ourselves up for the second part of the season and I`m confident that we`ll come out of it in a promising position.`

Speaking about getting knocked out of the FA Cup last Saturday, Mullins said, 'We didn`t deserve to lose and it was bitterly disappointing to go out in the fashion we did. We went in at half-time in front and set our stall out not to concede early in the second half. But, they scored their goal two minutes and forty seconds in and that was always going to make the second half difficult.

'I actually thought it was an infringement on Conrad Logan for the first goal but the referee didn`t give it and I don`t know what happened for their penalty winner. I thought it was a foul on Tom Newey first of all but the referee wouldn`t talk to anyone about it. We didn`t get much in the way of decisions.

'But, all we can do now is pick ourselves up and go again at Hereford.`
