RUFC - Chairman had more sponsorship enquiries

Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart says that he felt it was important to keep the long term relationships with the likes of Eric Twigg Foods and Ben Bennett Jnr who have already said they will sponsor a stand each in the new ground.

'The fact that Rotherham United is made up of long standing fans, father, son and grandfather, certainly on the commercial side, because these are businesses that have grown and developed with the town which is good for the community and the club. We appreciate it because they are nice people who we've dealt with for many years and we want to keep that relationship going.'

Speaking to Radio Sheffield about the progress of the stadium, which has already got three corners up, Mr Stewart said, 'It's going together well. I was speaking to GMI (the construction people) this morning and they were saying that everything is going well and the weather is behaving itself and we are seeing things really happen.'

Asked about sponsors for the two remaining stands, Mr Stewart said, 'It's been interesting that the last four or five weeks, as the structure has started to take place, we've had enquiries from certain commercial people around Rotherham which is nice because it's giving the club the commercial options and they are working on that. It's good to know that we've got a lot of interest.'
