RUFC - Players not in Christmas Day

Rotherham United players will have the day off on Christmas Day with Manager, Andy Scott saying he has to trust his players to behave themselves on the day.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Scott said, 'I've done it like this every year I've been a manager. And, as a manager I have to put my trust in my players that they'll be sensible and that they will eat the right things and not drink.

'We've got lads who travel long distances and I'd rather have the players stay at home on Christmas day with their families. A lot of them have young children and it's an important and good time to be with kids and watching them open their presents, without travelling an hour and a half for a little job and stretching and some bits and then travelling an hour and a half back. Hopefully the players will appreciate it and give it their all on Boxing Day.

'We've got a schedule for next week and we'll work up to Christmas Eve. We've as many days training as we normally have for a Saturday game so we'll be well prepared.'

The Millers travel to Macclesfield on Monday (Boxing Day) followed by an evening game on Friday at Cheltenham before the first game of 2012 which is against Bradford City on Monday, 2nd January.
