RUFC - Why did they pick New York?

Rotherham United's new ground has been named today as The New York Stadium.

Why New York?

Chairman, Tony Stewart explains said he had had many suggestions from fans but, over the last two weeks, the New York name had began to gather momentum. 'After careful consultation and detailed research into the local history of the site, we felt that New York was the perfect name for our new stadium and a name that is strongly rooted in more than one hundred and fifty years of Rotherham's proud history of industry and enterprise, linking the old and the new eras and, I believe, it befits such a fantastic new stadium right at the heart of Rotherham.'

At least we have a song already written for us - just spreading the news ......
